The dry curry specialty store "Dry Cuisine Wasp ", which has 10 stores in Kansai such as Osaka, is heading to Kanto. The first store "Tokyo Shinbashi Main Store" will open on December 15th.

How much is a dry curry that makes Osaka people scream? I had a special tasting before the opening.

The store is located on the left side of the Karasumori exit of JR Shimbashi station, just after entering Shimbashi west exit street. The entrance is at the door down the steep stairs to the right of the standing-eating sushi "Uogashi Nihon No. 1".

Once inside, you will be greeted by a nostalgic coffee shop-like light and a bright red counter. It's a compact space with only 10 seats.

The menu is only "hornet curry" (1,000 yen). The name of the restaurant says "dry food", but no food other than curry is served. Raw eggs (50 yen) and cheese (100 yen) are also available as toppings.

The wasp curry is plentiful on a large plate. Heaps of rice weigh about 300 grams. Equivalent to about two bowls. On top of that is curry roux with no ingredients, and stewed beef. It looks like beef curry at a Western restaurant.

I'll eat it right away. The first bite is full of rich flavor. It's smooth but laid back, and the entanglement with rice is also good. However, after a while, suddenly the "hornet" began to show its true character. The aftertaste is ridiculously pungent. Unlike curry, which has a unique spice flavor such as India and Thailand, it has a mellow taste, but the stimulus does not stop, and sweat spouts out later. But my hands don't stop. It's "horse spiciness" that can't be stopped.

The beef topping is also uniquely designed from other restaurants. Apart from the curry, it is boiled sweet and spicy. The meat is simmered so soft that it crumbles, and the more you chew it, the sweeter it exudes. Eating this with curry not only makes the spiciness milder, but also adds a lot of depth.

Don't forget to add the raw eggs here. "Raw eggs in curry" is a way of eating that is largely divided into positive and negative groups, but I definitely recommend it. Raw eggs are served in a separate plate, so make an "egg pocket" in the curry and gently drop only the yolks. When mixed with meat and eaten with meat, it changes to a sukiyaki-like taste. It seems that many regulars in Osaka enter from the beginning, but it is also a good idea to enter in the middle to enjoy the change. Because there is too much rice.

Yes, the amount of rice of 300 grams is quite voluminous. It's a curry that makes it easy for rice to go, but it's about time you want more changes even with the power of eggs. For wasps, of course, that is already assumed. "Chase roux", that is, a service of adding roux on top of rice is being implemented. In addition, the final secret weapon is olive oil. If you lightly turn the remaining curry once, it will add a mellowness that is different from that of eggs, so please give it a try.

The origin of wasps is the dry curry shop "Hachi" (closed in 2012), which has been loved by curry fans for over 30 years. The spicy curry made by the proprietress has fans who are also called "Hachira", and there are many voices who are reluctant to close the store. One of those bees arranged and opened the wasp. The taste of curry is different from that of bees, but the carrot pickles that are placed as a side dish are the same as the recipe of the landlady.

Until December 22, as a commemoration of the opening, people from Kansai and those with an "8" in their age (18 years old, 28 years old, etc.) can usually eat curry for 1,000 yen for 800 yen. Also, for those who wear red ones, raw egg toppings are free. The banquet season at the end of the year. The area is crowded with ramen shops, but how about "horse spicy curry" after drinking?

The store is located on the first basement floor of Olbus No. 1 Building, 3-21-10 Shinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo. Business hours are from 11:00 to 24:00, last order at 23:30.
