December gets colder day by day. Introducing warm sweets that are perfect for such a season. It is a traditional British Christmas cake, "Christmas pudding".

Christmas pudding is a cake made by steaming eggs, flour, sugar, and dried fruits. It is said that it uses plenty of brandy and is aged for a long time before eating, and even if it is called "pudding", it seems to be quite different from the custard pudding that is popular in Japan.

Christmas pudding is rarely seen in Tokyo, where sweets from all over the world are gathered. This time, I visited BERRY'S TEA ROOM in Suginami-ku, Tokyo. A popular tea shop that sells British sweets such as scones and crumpets.

In the UK, it is common to make large pieces and cut them into pieces, but BERRY'S TEA ROOM arranges them in a small size for one person. Also, it seems that the flavor of brandy is suppressed and it is easier to eat than the real one. I am thrilled to see the cute figure standing in the custard sauce.

When I put the fork in the warm pudding, the dried fruits popped out. It seems that it uses plenty of "mincemeat" that is boiled down with raisins, orange peel, brandy, butter, etc. The combination of spicy, low-sweetness dough and light sauce seems to be preferred by non-sweet people. The texture was moist and chewy, and even though it was small, it was a very satisfying response. It's not flashy, so it's a taste you'll want to eat every day. I found another wonderful British pastry!

You want to combine a special drink with the special cake that is unique to this season. This time, I had a special "Christmas tea" from the store. Christmas tea, which is a blend of spices and herbs such as cinnamon and ginger, has a fragrant and warming taste. Alazan and pink pepper are also added to the tea leaves as a color, and it seems to be appreciated as a gift. It was a cup that made me feel like Christmas.
