Is the avocado a vegetable or a fruit? When I look at avocados, this suddenly crosses my head. Avocado that is delicious whether eaten raw or cooked a little. In Japan, it seems that it is overwhelmingly used for meal menus rather than desserts, such as sandwiches, salads, and dips.

However, the other day, I caught the information that there is a store that offers "avocado parfait". I've eaten avocado pudding and cheesecake, but I haven't experienced parfait. Is it "sweets" as you read it, or is it actually "meal"? I went to the Chinese restaurant "Sairyu" in Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture), where the avocado parfait, which is the editorial department of eating food that I was interested in, is offered.

Sairyu has just reopened in July of this year with Mr. Chen Keimei, who has worked at many famous restaurants, as the chef. As a chef who specializes in "goldfish-shaped mango pudding," you can expect a parfait.

Well, when I looked at the menu, it was on the dessert page. Avocado parfait "Avocado and red bean parfait Hong Kong style" (1,100 yen). It seems that it was released as an autumn / winter limited menu, and it is posted with photos. Is it a sweet taste that is on the dessert page? I will order with excitement.

After a while, a deep green color, like a matcha parfait, was brought in. It's a simple visual, with no avocado on top. Seen from the side, you can see red bean paste and something bright green underneath something like pale green ice cream. What if this green ...?

First of all, I will have it from the top. When I scooped the top round part, ice cream appeared from inside. Apparently, the sauce was sprinkled on top of the vanilla ice cream. The sauce isn't sweet, it has a fluffy feel that I've eaten somewhere, and it's just a little blue. This must be an avocado !

That said, it's not the blueness that sticks to your nose. When eaten with vanilla ice cream, the aroma and sweetness of vanilla are combined with the richness of the sauce, and although it is rich, it is mellow and refreshing. It transforms into an exquisite taste.

Next, let's insert the spoon a little deeper. Under the ice cream, red bean paste and raw avocado came out. Although I expected it, it was included raw. Does it go well with ice cream or red bean paste?

I brought the ice cream, red bean paste, and avocado together and brought them to my mouth, but ... I was worried that I didn't need them. The combination of ice cream, red bean paste and avocado is surprisingly good. Thanks to the avocado, the bean paste is also rich, and the aftertaste is not heavy even though it is heavy, which is the deliciousness of the first experience. The unique texture and flavor of avocado is well utilized. "Wasabi soy sauce for avocado" was the standard, but it goes well with sweet ingredients. Also, between the ice cream and the anko, there is something like the fried wonton wrapper that you often see in Chinese food. This crispy accent. Perhaps it is the scent of oil, with the addition of a unique flavor, the “Chinese cuisine” is increasing.

Actually, the sauce on the ice cream is made only with avocado without mixing anything such as cream. The goodness of avocado is probably brought out because of the simple cooking method. Thanks to the fact that the whole thing isn't too sweet, I've eaten up. This seems to be a habit.

Avocado parfait is served for both lunch and dinner. For dessert after meals or as a snack. Try a new taste!

By the way, Sairyu offers "Chinese Afternoon Tea" (2,980 yen) for 2 hours from 14:00 to 16:00 between lunch time and dinner time on weekdays (including holidays). It is a menu where you can enjoy a lot of dim sum that is directly transmitted by the authentic Hong Kong dim sum master with tea.

You can choose not only coffee and black tea, but also three types of Chinese tea (Pu'er tea, oolong tea, and jasmine tea). I had Pu'er tea recommended by the clerk. It goes well with both "meal" dim sum and sweet dim sum.

A total of 9 types of dim sum are included in the set, so the volume is solid and it seems to be good for late lunch. Of course, avocado parfait for dessert! ... too greedy?
