Bread and coffee. It's a nice combination as it is, but when it comes to "freshly baked bread and home-roasted coffee," it becomes even more attractive.
"Bread & Coffee IKEDAYAMA", a homemade bread and home-roasted coffee shop where you can enjoy such a combination, opened on February 26th in Ikedayama, Gotanda, Tokyo. There are many specialty stores for homemade bread and home-roasted coffee, but surprisingly few stores can enjoy both at once. I was curious, so I went to see it!
● Bread & Coffee What kind of place is Ikedayama?
The shop is about a 5-minute walk from the east exit of JR Gotanda Station. It is located on the left side of the main street (Sakurada-dori), which is a slope.
When you enter the store, you will see a bread display shelf and a cashier counter on your right. The left hand is the eat-in space.
The front wall is glazed and you can see the large kitchen behind it. You can see the bread being made and the coffee beans being roasted up close, so you won't get bored even if you just walk in alone.
● This is the recommended bread and coffee!
From what I actually tried, I will tell you the recommendations for each genre such as meals, sweets, and drinks. * All prices include tax
[Meal system] Bread de mie 1 loaf 450 yen
Bread using domestic wheat "Yumechikara". It's the most popular product, and some fans visit it as soon as it's baked.
It has a surprisingly moist mouthfeel and a chewy and pleasant texture. You can feel the certain sweetness of wheat. It is said that the taste is realized by slowly baking dough with 90% water content (about 70% for general bread) at low temperature.
First of all, try eating it as it is without toasting. When I brought it back to the editorial department, the staff said it was "very moist!" And "it's delicious without putting anything on it."
In addition, the lineup includes a rich "croissant" (200 yen) that uses plenty of fermented butter from Hokkaido, and a "baguette" (350 yen) that makes you feel the taste of wheat the more you chew.
[Sweets] Pain au chocolat orangette 380 yen
Orange peel and chocolate wrapped in Danish pastry, and topped with honey-pickled orange and chocolate-covered "chocolate orangette". Many customers fall in love at first sight with their cute looks that you won't find anywhere else.
Not only the appearance but also the taste is gorgeous. Various flavors intersect in one bite, such as the sweetness of chocolate, the richness of butter that exudes from the dough, and the acidity and bitterness of orange. Sweet bread for adults who want to taste it carefully.
In addition, "Danish Phrase" (420 yen, fruits change according to the season) with juicy strawberries and custard with elegant taste on Danish dough, and "Cheesecake" with rich cheese taste (350 yen) We have products that are perfect for tea time in the eat-in space.
[Side dish] Fiutage Saucisson 400 yen
A dish of thick sausage wrapped in pie crust, cut and baked. The crispy pie enhances the juiciness of the sausage, and the herbal flavor adds a refreshing touch. It's heavy and has a great response to eating!
In addition, the lineup includes various tartines and quiches whose ingredients change according to the season, and "Iberian pork jumbon fromage" (420 yen), which is a soft viennoiserie topped with Iberian pork bacon and plenty of cream sauce.
[Sandwich] Homemade tuna (Viennoiserie) 550 yen
Sandwich with plenty of herb-flavored tuna paste mixed with olives and capers in Viennoiserie dough. You can choose bread from Viennoiserie or baguette.
Homemade tuna paste from tuna saku is moist and smooth with a fibrous texture. The condensed flavor spreads in the bread the more you chew. With a refreshing flavor of herbs and capers, it has a generous yet refreshing aftertaste. When you want to eat well.
In addition, there is a lineup of "Smoked Bacon BLT" (550 yen), which also allows you to choose bread.
[Drink] Hand drip coffee (Fazenda Kakuenji) 400 yen
Coffee beans from the Brazilian farm "Fazenda Kakuenji" are roasted to bring out the aroma and acidity. One cup is brewed with a paper hand drip for each order. To go is also possible.
A clear mouth and a refreshing fruity acidity. A sweet scent like orange spreads. The bitterness is suppressed and it is refreshing enough to think that it is a fruit drink for a moment. When it comes to coffee with a strong acidity, I was not good at it because of its sour image, but this is easy to drink and delicious!
When I asked Mr. Sadakata, the "barista" of the shop, which of the above breads suits this coffee, he told me "Fiutage Saucisson" or "Pain au Chocolat Orange". The refreshing taste is perfect for the oil content of sausages and the sweetness of chocolate.
We also recommend the "Almond Milk Latte" (450 yen), which is a combination of almond milk and espresso. Rich in almond flavor, nut lovers will love it! By the way, it seems that cheesecake goes well here.
Bread & Coffee Ikedayama is sure to satisfy both bread lovers and coffee lovers with its very high level of deliciousness. There is plenty of eat-in space, so you can use it for breakfast, lunch, tea time, and so on. Wrapped in the scent of bread and coffee, why not spend a luxurious time?
