When I searched for a store that offered it during the morning time, I found the fruit parlor "Fruit Garden Ribel" in Meguro, Tokyo. I actually went to eat the morning menu!
■ "Fruit Garden Ribel" is such a place!
Fruit Garden Ribel is about a 5-minute walk from Meguro Station. Look for the yellow-green outer stairs and the morning menu sign on the second floor of the drugstore.
In addition to the audience seats, cake and fruit showcases are lined up in the store.
■ Order a morning set!
There are 5 types of morning sets (at the time of the interview). All with vegetable salad, fruit and drink (coffee or tea), the price is 580 yen to 880 yen (excluding tax, the same applies below). For an additional 250 yen, you can change the set drink to "daily fresh juice", and there are also side menus such as "bacon and eggs" and "fruit yogurt" (cannot be ordered separately).
This time, I chose the fruit sandwich "C set" (880 yen) and the thick toast "A set" (580 yen). For the A set, the drink was changed to fresh juice every day, and "bacon and eggs" (180 yen) was added.
I was also interested in the "recommended" "avocado toast set", but I gave up on that day because it was out of stock.
■ Fruit sandwich set (C set)
Arrived in about 10 minutes from the order. 6 slices of vegetable salad, fruit and fruit sandwich are served on one plate.
Garnished fruits vary depending on the season. This day was melon, watermelon and dried persimmon.
Of particular note is the large dried persimmon. With a soft texture, the inside is creamy. It had a strong sweetness and was delicious when combined with toast like jam. It's quite expensive to buy dried persimmons normally, so I feel like I've gained somehow.
And the long-awaited fruit sandwich. If you look closely, you can see that there are two types.
The four slices on the left are general fruit sandwiches with strawberries, kiwi, muscat, etc. sandwiched between them. When you bite into it, you'll get a fresh juice! The cream is less sweet and the bread has a light texture, which is exactly like a "fruit-eating sandwich".
Roughly counting, more than 6 kinds of fruits are used, and there are various tastes such as texture, sweetness, and acidity. Especially, the crispy and fresh texture of Muscat was impressive.
On the other hand, the two slices on the right are the cream cheese fruit sandwiches that I was surprised to eat. Fruits with low sweetness (probably papaya, etc.) are used, and the amount of flesh is smaller than before. It has a refreshing taste with a slightly sour taste.
■ Toast set (A set) & bacon and eggs
Toast bread is as thick as a loaf of bread cut into four pieces. It is cut in half to make it easier to eat.
Turn on the bacon and eggs that you ordered additionally for this purpose.
Thick toast and salty bacon and eggs go well together as if they were made to order. The thick and warm egg yolk gradually soaks into the bread, and it changes to a crispy texture at the beginning and a soft texture toward the end.
Also, although it was not in the menu picture, it came with blueberry jam. This is another piece of toast.
The texture of the flesh that pops when chewed. You can feel the elegant sweetness and the refreshing acidity of blueberries.
■ Daily juice
The daily juice of the day is "banana milk".
The banana and milk are well-balanced, creamy but not too heavy and refreshing. The sweetness is modest, and it goes well with meals such as toast. It doesn't contain ice and it's not too cold, so it's gentle on the stomach and suitable for the morning.
The fruit garden Ribel is sometimes full at lunch and tea time. On the day of the interview (8:30 to 9:30 on weekdays), about 40 to 60% of the customers were there, and there was plenty of room for seats. Wake up a little earlier than usual and start your day with a fruit sandwich.
The store is located on the 2nd floor of President Meguro Heights, 1-3-16 Meguro, Meguro-ku, Tokyo. Business hours are from 7:30 to 23:00.
