If you can make such a wonderful sushi roll, you will surely be popular. I was convinced that I got "Smiling Sushi Roll" (published by Littlemore) by Tama-chan. Let's try making "Kokoro no Shoushi Sushi" which is one of Tama-chan's masterpieces!
The motif of this sushi roll is the famous Munk's "scream". It's a well-established "official homage work" that won the second prize in a project held by the Norwegian Tourism Board to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Munch's birth. Amazing, Tama-chan.
■ First, let's collect materials
I was wondering if various complicated preparations would be necessary, but the materials are surprisingly simple. Rice (vinegared rice), seaweed, black sesame seeds for coloring rice, yukari, ketchup, and finely chopped carrots that become the "eyes", soba that becomes the "nose hole".
Originally, I used burdock root for my eyes and squid pasta for my nose, but I couldn't find either of them at the nearest supermarket, so I decided to prepare a substitute at my own discretion.
And don't forget the "makisu" that rolls sushi. You can't roll without this! I also brought it from my parents' house.
■ Color the rice
Three colors of rice are used for shouting sushi. That's why we will add color, but it seems better to divide the prepared vinegared rice into orange (ketchup): white (as is): black (black sesame & related) at a ratio of about 3: 2: 1. ..
■ Wind each part
Shouting sushi is divided into several parts. The background, face, mouth, and hand parts are rolled up. According to the book, it seems that the small parts inside are rolled first and then combined one after another. Alright, let's do it!
First, from the mouth. Put a little white rice on the seaweed cut into small pieces and roll it tightly.
Next, I will roll my face. Put white rice on the seaweed, place the carrots that will be your eyes, the soba noodles that will be your nose, and the mouth that you just rolled up in a good place. Hold it tight so that the shape of the face is slightly dented in the middle.
Well, finally I will wind the hand part. Join the seaweed for a long time and put the rice in the center. White, black, white, and three colors like the character of a river. Fold both ends of the seaweed toward the center and cut it in half to complete both hands!
■ Combine and wind face parts and hand parts
When the face and hand parts are completed, we will finally combine the two and roll them up. Spread the large piece of seaweed on top of the roll, put orange rice, face, and hands on it, and roll it!
■ Try to cut
Now, the moment of tension and excitement has finally arrived. I'll put a knife in the sushi roll! If you cut it, your face should come out beautifully ...!
...... It came out ----- !!! Oh, somehow a pitiful expression. It's undeniable that the rice grains are a little loose and the winding force is weak, but it looks like a face ... right?
Munch's "screaming" should have created an eerie atmosphere, but the editorial staff who saw the author's screaming sushi said, "I'm not scared at all." I received the evaluation. Thank you very much.
On the other hand, some staff members are scared when they see a large amount of sushi that has been cut and lined up on a plate.
■ Challenge easy original works
What to hide Today May 15th is the 2nd anniversary of eating food! So, I tried to make the number "2" originally, but how about it?
After taking the Sanzan commemorative photo, all the editorial staff enjoyed it. It feels good because you can eat everything without leaving anything! Moreover, I was surprised to find that ketchup rice and black sesame and Yukari rice are surprisingly good.
"Smiley sushi" makes people who make and eat sushi smile. If you happen to come out when you open your lunch at a house party or picnic, everyone will surely smile!
