With the cooperation of a local seaweed maker on the Sanriku coast, FamilyMart released "Sanriku Wakame Salad" using wakame from Sanriku (Miyagi and Iwate prefectures) on April 2. The price is 240 yen.

This product is a salad using "new" wakame seaweed harvested in 2013. It uses "wakame seaweed with stems", which was difficult to handle at conventional convenience stores. The dressing was combined with a salt-based dressing that enhances the original taste of wakame seaweed.

The company intends to use Sanriku wakame seaweed to help with reconstruction assistance.

The products will be sold at FamilyMart stores nationwide, excluding the Chugoku, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa prefectures.
