Previously, I introduced "Black Ivory Coffee ", which uses coffee fruits collected from elephant droppings as the most expensive coffee in the world. However, it seems that this coffee is no longer the best in the world.

Harrods, a prestigious department store in the UK, sells "Terra Nera". Prices vary by grade and quantity, but the cheapest is £ 140. The highest is £ 6,800.

Black Ivory Coffee used coffee berries from elephant droppings. Terra Nera uses coffee berries from masked palm civet droppings. By feeding the palm civet the fruit of coffee, the bitterness of coffee disappears due to digestive enzymes, and the taste becomes mellow.

Coffee fruits that have been digested and excreted by masked palm civet are manually picked from the feces, washed and dried before being shipped as products. Terra Nera requires such a laborious process, so the amount of coffee beans that can be shipped as a product is limited to only 45 kg per year. This means that it will be an expensive product.

Terra Nera is available in a total of six grades, with the highest quality Grade 0 being packed in a sterling silver bag and sold with a 24-karat gold plate. This package is the work of renowned silversmith Rebecca H. Joselyn.
