The En-Eating editorial department conducted a project called " How many boxes of Morinaga Chocoballs do I have to buy to win a 'toy kanzume'? The project was called "How many boxes of Morinaga ChocoBalls do I have to buy to win a 'toy candy cane'? We bought 100 boxes of Morinaga Chocoballs and succeeded in winning 5 silver angels.

It has been two weeks since then. The toy candles arrived at the editorial office from Morinaga Seika!

Here's a toy kanzume!
Here's a toy kanzume!

The toy candles came in an orange box by courier!

The toy Kanzume arrived in an orange box by TA-Q-BIN. At this point, we still do not know what it contains. I was a little scared, wondering if it might be a huge kanzume. I was a little scared.

Congrats on your win, Que!
Congrats on your win, Que!

I opened the orange cardboard box with trepidation and found not a giant kanzume (......) but a giant Kyoro-chan (Kyoro-chan)! This is the "toy kanzume," which is also called the "NEW Kyoro-Can.

Our eyes met!
Our eyes met!

It may be huge, but that is only compared to the Kyoro-chan depicted on the Morinaga Chocoball package. The actual size is 16 cm (H) x 9 cm (W) x 16 cm (D), and it weighs 210 g.

Depth (?) is 16 cm

A can opener is not necessary for a toy canned food.

When we heard the word "kanzume," we thought of something like a "peach can," but we had to wait for a can opener. We had a can opener ready and waiting, but this was a complete misunderstanding. A toy kanzume is a kyoro-chan shaped container with a toy inside. So no need for a can opener!

Inside, there are five different toys.

Let's open the "Kyoro-Can. Inside are five kinds of Kyoro-chan themed toys.

Kyoro-chan is packed with five different toys.

The toys enclosed in the Kyoro-Can are intended for children around 5 years old. Children older than elementary school age may be a bit disappointed if they receive the can. However, the kyoro can itself is well made, and I think they will be happy to receive it. To be honest, even adults felt a bit pleased. No, I think adults would be happier.

■ Toy kanzume is being sent to more people than we thought!

Morinaga Seika's Web site has the following sentence: "Every month, 17,000 people receive the toy kanzume.

"We give out toy candles to about 17,000 people every month.

If this is true, that would mean that about 200,000 people a year receive the toy crate. 200,000 people is quite a large number, isn't it?

Considering the contents of the toys, the target audience is probably elementary school students and younger. According to the 2011 White Paper on Children and Youth published by the Cabinet Office, there were less than 7 million elementary school students in Japan as of May 1, 2010. If we make a very, very rough estimate, this means that about one out of every 35 elementary school students, or about one in every class, is receiving a toy kanzume.

(We should not be surprised that junior high school students also receive toys, or that the En-Eat editorial staff also receives toys, but we are elementary school students! (Please put aside the "junior high school students should be getting them too," and "En-En-Eating editors are getting them too, are you elementary school kids?)

Toy kanzume are supposed to be so common in Japan. But this was the first time I saw one in person. It was a little strange. Is the person who received it secretly hiding it? Are they showing it off to the people around them?

By the way, how long does it take to receive the toy kanzume after sending the angel?

This time, I sent 5 silver Angels to Morinaga Seika on November 19. The toy canzume arrived on December 3. In other words, the toy canzume arrived exactly two weeks after I sent my application.

So, fathers who are thinking of giving a toy Kanzume as a Christmas present to their children. If you run out to buy Morinaga Chocoballs now, you may be able to receive a toy candy cane before Christmas.
