A bento box containing gobo (burdock root) and beef shigureni-jyu (beef stew) on a bed of rice. It is served with pickled nozawana and red ginger.

The crispy burdock root accents the tender beef! The meat is packed with the flavor of the sweet and spicy broth with a hint of ginger, which melds with the flavor of the meat in the mouth with each bite. The rice is cooked in dashi soy sauce and is slightly sweet. It tastes luxurious everywhere you eat..!


The nozawana greens are a little sour and salty, oshinko-style, and make a nice chopstick rest. The red ginger is crispy and spicy, refreshing in the mouth. Eating the brown part for a long time makes you get tired of it, but when you pick up the nozawana and red ginger, you will want to eat beef shigureni again in an endless loop. Personally, I think there should be more red ginger in this dish..!
