The new smoothies include the "Strawberry Banana Sauce Smoothie," the "Double Berry Yogurt Smoothie," the "Mango Pineapple Smoothie," and the "Green Smoothie. They are already available at some stores and will be gradually expanded by the end of February 2024.

The "store-made smoothies" have been under consideration since 2015, and have been sold at some stores since 2017, and as of the end of February 2023, they are sold at approximately 2,700 stores. To ensure the freshness of the ingredients, the smoothie combines quick-frozen vegetables and fruits with frozen "ice cubes" of vegetable puree and fruit juice, which are then mixed in a dedicated machine in the store and enjoyed freshly prepared. The ice cubes are set into cups in the freezer case at the store and are ready in about 90 seconds.


Vegetables and fruits that used to be disposed of as out-of-spec product due to appearance alone are now utilized, leading to a reduction in food loss. For example, in the ice cubes of the green smoothie, the core of broccoli, which would normally be discarded, is pureed and added.
