Nishiki

Chimakizong:

"Tama Dasuki 'Nishiki Chimakizong'" made by Toraya is a fresh confectionery named after Chimakizong, which is an essential part of Tango-no Sekku (the Boy's Festival). According to Toraya, zongzi were used to ward off evil spirits at court during the Heian period (794-1185). Usually wrapped in rush leaves, Nishiki zongzi is made with red and white strings. The red and white outer layer of fabric is twisted together to resemble a tama-dasuki (a beautiful name for a tama-dasuki).

The price is 594 yen. It will be on sale from April 16 to May 5, 2023.
