Akagi Nyugyo's "Garigari-kun Soda" Renewed

Akagi Nyugyo's "Garigari-kun Soda" has been renewed for the first time in about 20 years and will be sequentially released nationwide from mid-March. To coincide with the renewal, a total of 100,000 bottles were sampled free of charge at 12 facilities in major cities throughout Japan.

A consumer survey conducted in June 2022 revealed that while there were many positive comments such as "it is ideal for cooling down and refreshing after summer, after work, or after a bath," "the characters are prominent and the product is easy to recognize," and "there are many different flavors to enjoy," there were also a few comments such as "I buy it because I understand the particular ingredients and manufacturing methods used. On the other hand, we found that there were only a few respondents who "understand the particular ingredients and manufacturing process used in the product and purchase it. Therefore, we are renewing the ice cream and its packaging to convey Garigarikun's commitment to quality.


Garigarigi-kun is made by slowly freezing "pure ice" without impurities, shaving it to a particular size, mixing it with syrup, and filling it with ice cream. By using pure ice, which does not melt easily, you can enjoy the crunchy texture and refreshing aftertaste.

In this renewal, the shaved ice in the single-packs of "Garigarikun Soda," "Garigarikun Cola," and "Garigarikun Grapefruit" has been shaved coarser and the proportion of larger ice cubes has been increased to create a more refreshing aftertaste than before. It has been about 20 years since the last renewal was made in 2002, and the new Garigari-kun can be enjoyed for the first time in 20 years.
