Starbucks Reusable In-Store Glasses
Approximately 1,500 Starbucks stores nationwide* will begin offering glasses for in-store use of iced beverages at the end of March. Prior to the nationwide rollout, the service was first introduced on Monday, February 20 at approximately 100 stores in the Marunouchi and Ginza areas of Tokyo, Kyoto, Shizuoka, and other locations. The 1,500 stores include the test stores and the approximately 100 stores that have introduced the glass service ahead of the nationwide rollout.
In-store glasses that can be
used repeatedly
In-store glass provision has been tested and verified at 106 stores in the Shibuya area of Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka, and other areas since April 2022. Based on feedback from customers and store partners (employees), the glass has been designed to be thinner, more eye-catching, and easier to hold and drink from. The reusable in-store glasses are made of resin and come in two sizes. Each is available in short/tall and grande/venti, providing the same Starbucks experience as before.
During the trial introduction, we received comments such as "it looks more delicious" and "the gradation is beautiful" for products such as Frappuccinos and Caramel Macchiato. As a result, many people have used the system, which has led to positive results, such as a nine-fold increase in the store's reuse rate and a reduction in trash disposal by half, allowing more time to talk with customers.
