This prompted the product development team to begin working on the creation of an egg-and-rice menu. The first dish to be developed was an egg on rice dish using meringue.

Some people in the company dismissed it as "not very BIKKURI DONKEY-like" and "is this a product you want to eat when you visit a BIKKURI DONKEY restaurant? The product development team reexamined the product, focusing on how to make it more like BIKKURI DONKEY.

The result was the "Original Hamburger Sauce" for the hamburger steak. The soy sauce-based original sauce with the flavor of minced meat goes well with egg on rice, creating the "egg on rice" that can only be served at BIKKURI DONKEY.

However, the debate heated up over how much of the original sauce should be added. The people in charge of the dish clashed with each other, with some saying that the amount should be the same as that used for the hamburger steak and others saying that it should be the right amount so that the egg flavor could be felt.


The meticulous development process paid off, and when the product went on sale in October of last year, it was extremely popular. It is now a popular item on the morning menu.
