Rikunohozhu Shien

This is one of the "Shizen" series of seasonal wagashi (Japanese confectionaries), which are made by taking care of the fruit's season and using its shape, form, and flavor as it is. This time, the fresh fruit of the "Shion" grape cultivated in Okayama is wrapped entirely in gyuhi.

According to Soke Genkitchoan, Shien is a beautiful variety with wine-red grapes. It is considered to be seedless, oval-shaped, and characterized by its soft flesh. It is harvested from late fall to winter, and is said to have a sweet, yet refreshing taste. The size of the grapes varies depending on the harvest season. In addition to single grapes, the official online store offers 6-piece, 8-piece, and 12-piece sets.
