Montale will sell "Kikyo Shingen, Cream Castella" in collaboration with "Kikyo Shingen Cake", a famous confectionery representing Yamanashi Prefecture, at supermarkets nationwide from August 1 to August 31. In addition, "Kikyo Shingen Pudding" will be re-launched in some areas.
Kikyo Shingen Cream CastellaThe Kikyo Shingen rice cake, long loved by people of all ages, has been given a new expression with a taste reminiscent of Western-style confectionery. The soft and moist kinako sponge cake dough is filled with a smooth kinako cream and topped with a brown sugar paste. The cream is a combination of Montale's original kinako red bean paste, which is made with Hokkaido kinako to give it a rich and smooth flavor, and whipped cream.
The sponge cake contains a large amount of egg yolk to make it fluffy and moist, even with the kinako. Mirin (sweet sake) is added to give it a sharp, elegant sweetness and richness. The fluffy dough is topped with a generous amount of Kikyouya's dark molasses, which has a distinctive richness and flavor, for a fresh and cool taste. The contrast between the savory kinako flavor, the rich molasses flavor, and the texture of the dough and cream can be enjoyed. The estimated price including tax is 259 yen (291 yen for Okinawa only).
