Oimo Lab is a sweet potato specialty store in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa. They sell a variety of sweet potato sweets such as "Yaki-imo (baked sweet potato)", "Yaki-imo Pudding", "Sweet Potato Cheese Tea", and "Yaki-imo Ice Cream on Top of Baked Sweet Potato".

Yakimo Pudding

Three types of puddings are available: "Plain," which gives a direct taste of baked sweet potatoes; "Premium," which uses only "Mr. Kunii's sweet potatoes;" and "Yakimo Custard Pudding," which contains an egg. This time, I bought the plain pudding. The price is 300 yen (tax included).


The only ingredients are sweet potato, milk, sugar, and gelatin. It has a thick and creamy texture, with a soft sweetness and a savory sweet potato flavor. It is more like a heavy cream than a pudding. It has a very smooth texture.

Baked sweet potato

We offer different varieties of yaki-imo, such as sticky and sweet, depending on the time of year and availability. Prices vary depending on the size: S 400 yen, M 500 yen, and L 600 yen.

On this day, there were "Beniharuka," a sticky type, and "Kunii-san's Premium Sweet," the store's top choice, and I chose the medium size of "Kunii-san's Premium Sweet. I chose "Mr. Kunii's Premium Sweet" M. It was delivered warm at the time of purchase, but I was told that it tasted good even after it had cooled down, and that I could take it home and reheat it in the microwave.

When I cracked it open, I found it to be a beautiful golden color. The moist cross section appears.


When you put it in your mouth, it is soft and melts in your mouth. The rich sweetness and savory flavor melts away. The taste is well-balanced with the simple flavor of taro. There are also sticky and crunchy types sold, although they were sold out on this day, so it would be fun to compare them!
