Toundo, which sells Niwaka Sempei, will re-launch "Oisa's Niwaka Sempei" featuring Oisa, the official character of Hakata Gion Yamakasa, on June 20.

Following the birth of the official character of Hakata Gion Yamakasa, Toundo, a sembe shop in Hakata, released a sembei featuring the character in 2017. Although there was a period of time when it could not be sold due to the outbreak of a new type of coronavirus infection, it will be sold again after this year's Yamakasa is fully underway.

Hakata Gion Yamakasa is a Shinto ritual dedicated to Kushida Shrine (Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City), known as the chief deity of Hakata. Held annually from July 1 to 15, it has a tradition of more than 700 years, and its official name is the Gion Festival of Kushida Shrine.

Oisa's Nyoka Sembei is a Nyoka Sembei featuring the eyes of Oisa, the official character of Hakata Gion Yamakasa. The back of the package has various patterns, including an introduction to the entire Yamakasa festival and its events, and the package insert contains tidbits of Yamakasa trivia.


Oisa no Nioka Sembei comes in a set of four boxes of three. The price is 594 yen (tax included). They will be sold at Toundo's Hakata Station Maing store.
