Hotto Motto "Kamaage Shirasu Bento" and "Torimeshi Bento".

Hotto Motto will release "Kamaage Shirasu" (dried young sardines) bento on May 10. In addition, "Torimeshi Bento", which is sold exclusively at 22 stores in Okayama Prefecture, will go on sale at stores nationwide.

Kama-age Shirasu Bento

This bento features fluffy Japanese shirasu and two kinds of seafood tempura on a bed of warm rice. The shirasu is made to be as fresh as possible by minimizing the time between the catch and the kama-age process, so that the original flavor can be enjoyed. The flavor of the shirasu is further enhanced by the dashi soy sauce, which is made by adding the umami of dried bonito flakes, kelp, and mackerel to rich honjozo soy sauce. This dish is served with soft squid and springy scallop tempura topped with mildly sour Tosa vinegar. Priced at 480 yen (tax included).

Torimeshi Bento

The "Torimeshi Bento", which has been sold exclusively at 22 stores in Okayama Prefecture since April 1, 2022 and has been well received, is now available at stores nationwide (product contents vary in some cases). The bento consists of rice topped with nori (seaweed), dashimaki tamago (rolled egg), karaage (fried bean curd), and other ingredients.

In order to create a dish close to the style familiar to residents of Okayama Prefecture, each karaage is sliced in half so that the cross section can be seen. The dish is served with a thick, sweet and spicy sauce made from honjozo soy sauce, sweetened with mirin (sweet sake) and sugar, and flavored with bonito flakes. The mayonnaise is served separately for an even richer flavor. The price is 460 yen (tax included).
