Zespri International Japan will change the product name of its red kiwi "Zespri Red," which it began test marketing in Japan in 2020, to "Zespri Ruby Red" in April 2022.

Zespri Ruby Red, as its name suggests, is a new kiwi variety with red flesh, developed over a period of more than 20 years and characterized by an elegant berry-like sweetness that is different from conventional kiwis. It is a precious and small variety that is difficult to cultivate, and contains "anthocyanins" and "vitamin C." From the start of its test marketing in 2020 until now, it has been sold as "Zespri Red.


Zespri Ruby Red will be available at supermarkets and produce stores nationwide from early April to early May. Sales will end when quantities run out.

Some stores may not carry it.
The start date of sales differs depending on each store. Sales will end as soon as the quantity is sold out, so sales may end earlier than planned.
