Matsunoya "Waraji-katsudon" (straw cutlet served on top of a bowl of rice)

Waraji-katsu" will be available at Matsunoya and Matsunoya from 3 p.m. on March 16.

Waraji Katsu

The "Waraji-katsu-don" at Matsunoya is a bowl of rice topped with a huge piece of pork cutlet that looks like a waraji, and is so large that it overflows the bowl. It is a local delicacy in the Chichibu area that is sure to please any pork cutlet lover.

The last time it was on sale, it was "overwhelming! But easy to eat!" The flavor of the ingredients and the refreshing special sauce are a perfect match with Matsunoya's "rice for tonkatsu. The key to this dish is the excellent "special sauce," a sweet soy sauce base with the delicious flavor of bonito and kelp dashi. To further refresh the palate, the dish is accented with refreshing chopped yuzu (Japanese citrus fruit). It adds a touch of color to the bowl.

The restaurant also offers the "grated ponzu (grated daikon radish)" set meal, the "miso waraji-katsu set meal" with hatcho-style miso sauce, and a side dish of "waraji-katsu" (waraji-katsu). All are available for To go. Prices are as follows. All prices include tax.
