Tohoku Sanriku Umaimon Market " is being held at Sushiro from February 9. The fair features seafood and local gourmet food from Sanriku. From a total of 15 items in the lineup, I tried five of my favorites at the restaurant!

I tried three of the Sanriku seafood items: "Authentic Shark's Fin Rice Ball," "Extra Large Jumbo Scallop," and "Super Fine Sashimi Mackerel," and two of the local gourmet items: "Abalone Kaisen Zukuri Platter (Sea Urchin and Salmon Roe)" and "Harako Rice-Style Seaweed Wrapped Rice. These are introduced below.

Authentic Shark's Fin Rice Ball

Sushiro Tohoku Sanriku Umaimon City Shark's Fin Rice Ball

Sushiro's original seasoned shark's fin is wrapped in a slightly Chinese-style thick sauce. It tastes great with sushi rice! The shark's fin is large, and you can fully enjoy its lumpy texture.

This is a dish that calls itself "superb" because of its melt-in-your-mouth fat and powerful umami. The balance with the refreshing vinegar is perfect!

Mellow, crunchy, and petite. A variety of textures burst in your mouth. The flavor of the seaweed that wraps it adds to the luxurious taste.

Harako-meshi style seaweed wrapped

A combination of salmon, salmon roe, and tobiko, inspired by Miyagi's local dish, harako-meshi. The price is 165 yen. Not available for To go. The event will end as soon as they are sold out.

Sushiro Tohoku Sanriku Umaimon City Harako-meshi Style Nori Wrapped

The contrast between the melt-in-your-mouth salmon and the petite texture of salmon roe and tobiko is vivid. The crispy nori seaweed is also a nice accent.

By using some of the seafood from Sanriku in Tohoku, the Tohoku Sanriku Umaimon Market helps to support the recovery of the Tohoku region.
