NISSEI, a comprehensive soft serve ice cream manufacturer, will start selling "Seasonal Soft Serve Ice Cream Mix Sakura" from February 7, 2012. 2022 will be the 16th year since the first release in 2007.

Seasonal Soft Ice Cream Mix Sakura

Soft serve ice cream that recreates the flavor of cherry blossom rice cakes "Seasonal Soft Serve Ice Cream Mix Sakura" is a soft serve ice cream mixed with finely ground cherry leaves. In addition to cherry puree, salted cherry leaves are mixed in to give it the flavor of sakura mochi.

It will be adopted by stores nationwide in time for the cherry blossoms to bloom, and will travel north with the cherry blossom front. The reason for the long sales period, from early February to late May, is to accommodate this sales method.

At the beginning of the development process, we had to think hard about how to express the "taste of cherry blossoms". The standard tree for declaring the blooming of cherry trees nationwide is Someiyoshino (except in Okinawa and some other areas). We decided that it would be difficult to reproduce the flavor of Someiyoshino because of its faint aroma. On the other hand, cherry flavor cannot be said to be cherry flavor. After a lot of trial and error, we decided to use the flavor of sakura mochi, especially the aroma of salted cherry leaves.
