How to save taro
Room temperature storage of taroWrap the taro in newspaper. The soil keeps the taro fresh, so don't wash it off and wrap it whole. If you don't have newspaper, you can use kitchen paper.
Put it in a paper bag or cardboard, do not seal it (it can be folded lightly several times), and store it in a cool place with good ventilation and out of direct sunlight. If the temperature and humidity environment is in place, it can be stored at room temperature for about a month.
Refrigerated storage of taroWrap the taro in kitchen paper one by one. Wrap the taro that has been washed off with kitchen paper after thoroughly wiping it off.
Put the wrapped taro in a plastic bag and close the mouth tightly.
Wrap the whole bag in newspaper. Store as it is in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator.
It is recommended to eat the taro that has been refrigerated for about a week. If the kitchen paper gets wet with the water that seeps out from the satoimo, remove it from the bag and replace it with new dry kitchen paper to prevent mold from forming.
Freezing storage of taroWash off any soiled items and wipe off any water with kitchen paper.
Wrap each skin in plastic wrap, put it in a freezing storage bag, and store it in the freezer.
Let's eat about a month as a guide. When thawing, keep it wrapped in plastic wrap and heat it in the microwave (600W) for about 2 minutes. If it's still hard, heat it again and watch until it's soft enough for the bamboo skewers to pass through. By thawing in the microwave, it will be easier to peel off the skin!
