Mengchun Tiger" Yokan, the Chinese Zodiac Sign of the Year

Moushun no tora" (Chinese zodiac jellied sweet bean jelly) will be available from late November 2021 to mid-January 2022. The price is 1,944 yen for the medium size and 3,888 yen for the bamboo skin wrapper.

Mengchun" means "beginning of spring. The "Mengchun Tiger" is made of yellow yokan, which represents a tiger running in the wind, excited by the arrival of spring. Some stores do not carry this product.

Fresh confectionery "Tiger of Sunlight

Nama-gashi "Yohkou no Tora" will be on sale at stores that sell nama-gashi from December 16, 2021 to January 15, 2022. The price is 486 yen per piece.

Gyuhi with brown sugar is covered with white bean paste and sprinkled with yellow carmelized sugar to create a torafu (tiger spots) pattern. The shimmering appearance of the carmela and gyuhi is made to resemble a tiger standing nobly in the sunlight.

Fresh confectionery "Torabu Tiger

Nama-gashi "Toratakebu" will be on sale from December 16, 2021 to January 15, 2022 at stores selling nama-gashi in the Kanto and Kyoto areas. The price is 486 yen per piece.

It is a confectionary with a yellow and green coloring applied to a tooro-style manju (Japanese yam bun) filled with gozen-an (red bean paste) and branded with a tiger and bamboo leaves, depicting a tiger braying furiously in a bamboo grove. The tiger and bamboo, which have been favored as subjects of Japanese paintings, are combined with grated yam and manju.

Oriental Zodiac Furoshiki Tiger

The "Oriental Zodiac Furoshiki Tiger" will be available from November 14, 2021 to late January, 2021. It will end as soon as it is gone. The selling price is 1,540 yen.

The furoshiki with tiger design is linked to the package of small yokan. Four tigers with slightly different expressions are arranged in the four corners. The furoshiki comes with an original tag bearing the Toraya logo "kantora" (linked tigers) and the year 2022. Some stores do not carry this product.

Toraya Calendar 2022

The 2022 Toraya Calendar will be available from October 1, and will end as soon as it is gone. The selling price is 1,100 yen.

The illustration was selected from "Katamono Okashimihoncho," a design book of confectionaries that remains at Toraya. The cover depicts a "bamboo grove" with a tiger on it, marking the start of the Year of the Tiger. Some stores do not carry this item.

Gozaimasu Yokan "Hikarisasu

Gozaimu Yokan "Hikarisasu" will be available from late November 2021 to mid-January 2022. The price is 1,944 yen for the medium size and 3,888 yen for the takebika package.

The soft morning light shining into the room is represented by light red and light yellow colored neng yokan. Some stores do not carry this product.

Nama Gashi "Morning Window" will be on sale from December 16, 2021 to January 15, 2022 at stores selling nama gashi in the Kanto and Kyoto areas. The price is 486 yen per piece.

The window where the morning light gradually begins to appear is made of amber dyed with gardenia seeds, and the quietness of the room where the morning is about to begin is represented by the yokan. The yokan is filled with white bean paste and has a rich flavor.
