It was announced on the official website that the limited-time chestnut yokan "Kurizuto" will be available from Chikufudo in Obuse, Nagano. It will be on sale from September 1st and can be ordered at stores as well as at the official online shop. The selling price is 1,728 yen (tax included, shipping fee not included) per paddle (270g (9.52oz)).

According to Chikufudo, "Kurizuto" is also a registered trademark, and "Zuto" means the kanji "bract". It was named after local products and souvenirs.

The yokan that appeared in the Edo period was first steamed yokan, and the yokan that was hardened with agar as it is now was devised later. Steamed yokan made from red bean paste, wheat flour, etc. is preferred to have a chewy texture that is different from that of brick yokan.

Chestnut bean paste with chestnut grains is added to Kurizuto, and it is devised so that you can enjoy the unique taste of Obuse, which is a famous chestnut producing area. It is characterized by a smooth texture in a chewy texture.

Production is suspended in the summer but resumed in the fall. Calories are 243 kcal per 100 g. The shelf life is about 10 days.
