Yamawaki Sangetsudo "Motitozzo

The official online store of Yamawaki Sangetsudo, a long-established kibidango shop that has been in business for 140 years, will start selling "Mochitozzo," a Japanese version of Maritozzo, on July 20.

Mochitozzo" is a Daifuku (rice cake filled with bean jam) similar in shape to "Maritozzo," a specialty of Rome, Italy. A light red bean paste made from Hokkaido azuki beans is wrapped in a soft rice cake made from Habutae flour and sandwiched between two layers of light Hokkaido whipped cream. Two flavors, kinako and kabusecha, are available. The mochi, anko (red bean paste), and whipped cream are all in one, and people who have tried the mochi have commented that the cream is lighter than expected and the taste of the azuki beans is very delicious.

When sold exclusively at brick-and-mortar stores, it was sold out every day for a month and a half, and at a local department store in Okayama, a total of 600 units were sold out in two days. The product is similar to the much talked-about "Maritozzo," but it was not developed in an attempt to create a similar product, but rather in response to many customer requests for more cream. The name of the product was solicited via Twitter, and the name "Motitozzo" was decided upon.

The online store will sell a set of 4 pieces (2 kinako flavor, 2 kabusecha flavor) for 2,500 yen and a set of 6 pieces (3 kinako flavor, 3 kabusecha flavor) for 3,000 yen (tax included and free shipping).
