"Shikuwasa Gummy" and "Shikuwasa Yokan" from KALDI Coffee Farm. I tried to compare the ones that made me feel more like the Okinawan fruit "Shikuwasa". Both are characterized by a strong citrus flavor, but the atmosphere is different.
Citrus depressa
"Shikuwasa Gummy" is a "Moheji" brand gummy candy. The selling price is 129 yen (tax included, same below).
When you open the bright package with the fruits of Citrus depressa, you will see 10 heart-shaped gummy candies. Both have a two-layer structure in which soft gummies are wrapped in elastic gummies.
When you take one and bring it to your mouth, the upper part collapses quickly and has a fragile and juicy taste. The lower part is firm and chewy, and you can enjoy a gummy-like texture. The citrus aroma and acidity are strikingly vivid, and there is a strong claim that it is associated with the juice "Okinawa Prefecture Shikuwasa Juice 100%" sold at KALDI.
Citrus depressa
"Shikuwasa Yokan" is also a product of the "Moheji" brand, and has a bite-sized shape that can be easily eaten. The selling price is 178 yen.
The package is guided by the slightly sweet and sour yokan that you can enjoy the refreshing acidity of Okinawan Shikuwasa juice and the gentle taste of white bean paste.
It is double-wrapped and the contents are quite soft, so be careful when taking it out. Impression that it is easy to handle if it is rapidly cooled in a freezer so that it does not tick. The shade is dark orange.
You can still feel the citrus flavor when you chew, but it is deep and heavy rather than vivid. You can enjoy the refreshing scent of Shikuwasa as a Japanese sweet.
For drinks, I tried "Cafe KALDI low temperature extracted iced coffee". It has a strong bitter taste and goes well with gummy candies as well as yokan.
As for the impression of eating and comparing, it was difficult to attach to the uniqueness of Shikuwasa. However, Shikuwasa gummy has a sharper and clearer acidity and aroma, and Shikuwasa yokan has a heavy flavor that is integrated with bean paste. Gummy candies are recommended for leisure time, and yokan is recommended for a relaxing coffee break.
