Galette des Rois

The traditional French confectionery "Gallet des Rois" will be sold at bakeries such as "Donq". It will be available from December 27, 2020 to January 15, 2021, including stores of the Donq Edite, Joan, Marie Catherine and Dominique Geulin brands.

Galette des Rois is a traditional confectionery that is indispensable for celebrating the New Year in France. A moist and flavorful almond cream is put in a crispy puff pastry, and a fève (pottery doll) is hidden. It is said that if there is a fève in the carved piece, the person who wins will wear a crown and become a king or princess that day, and there will be good things for a year. In donks and the like, almond grains are put in place of fève, and fève is delivered with a paper crown as an attachment.

In addition to the regular flavors sold at each store, the "Premium Galette des Rois", which features a contrast between pistachios and almonds, is also available in limited quantities at only three stores, Donq and Joan.

Donk / Donquedite

Donk and Don Quedite's Galette des Rois are 2,160 yen and are about 20 cm in diameter. A pattern of bay leaves is drawn on the surface. The fève was designed by French illustrator Claude Varennes. It is drawn with a warm touch that feels nostalgia.

Joan

Joan's Galette des Rois also costs 2,160 yen and is about 20 cm in diameter. A pattern of wheat ears is drawn on the surface. The motif of the fève is "broad beans (feve)".

Marie Catherine / Dominique Geulin

Marie Catherine and Dominique Geulin's Galette des Rois are 1,404 yen. About 15 cm in diameter. A pattern of wheat ears is drawn on the surface. The 2021 fève is "Brioche". One of all 10 types will be given at random. It is available at all Marie Catherine stores and "Dominique Geulin Sapporo Esta Store".

Premium Galette des Rois

The premium Galette des Rois is 3,780 yen and is about 20 cm in diameter. It is handled at "Ginza Johan store", "Nihonbashi Johan store", and "Donq Osaka Takashimaya store (high is a different character)".

A delicate and unraveling fiutage (pie) wrapped in elegant pistachio cream and almond cream. Griot is added to the accent so that you can enjoy the contrast between sweetness and acidity. The pattern on the surface depicts the sun.

The fève is "macaroons". One of all 7 types will be given at random.
