Daikon radish and bacon simmered in butter
IngredientsHere is what you need to prepare, based on a recipe from JA Itoshima.
1/3 Japanese radish
50g (1.76oz) bacon
20 g butter
1/2 consomme soup stock
Salt and pepper to taste
Daikon radish leaves (if available), to taste
DirectionsPeel daikon radish and cut into 1 x 5 cm sticks. Cut bacon into 1 cm pieces. Also, boil the daikon leaves and chop them.
Fry the bacon in a frying pan with hot butter.
When browned, add daikon radish and fry until the surface becomes transparent, then add 1.5 cups of water (not included) and consommé soup stock and bring to a boil.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes. When daikon becomes soft, season with salt and pepper to taste and place in a serving bowl. Sprinkle with chopped daikon leaves.
How does daikon radish and bacon in butter taste? This is... really... insanely delicious. ......! The sweetness of soft and fresh daikon and the juicy bacon. The richness of the melted butter and consomme wraps around the sweetness of the daikon and the juices of the bacon. The pepper also adds a nice kick to the dish. Give me a highball right now!
