"Tonkatsu salad" that you can enjoy tonkatsu refreshingly even in summer. The tonkatsu specialty store "Maisen" is selling the kit, so I tried it. The usual cutlet and shredded cabbage are transformed into completely different dishes.
From mid-July, a campaign is underway at Maisen where you can buy pork cutlet or fillet and shredded cabbage together to get a free dressing for pork cutlet salad. You can also receive leaflets with simple recipes and sample photos at the store. Also, if you ask the shop staff, they will cut the cutlet into small pieces in advance so that it can be easily made into a salad.
This time, I bought fillet (788 yen, tax included, same below) and shredded cabbage (129 yen). I had the cutlet cut into 10 equal parts. You will receive two types of dressing: "non-oil flavored lemon" and "Japanese-style dressing with the flavor of dashi stock".
The salad recipe is very simple, just spread the cabbage in a large bowl or deep plate, serve the cut pork cutlet on top, and dress.
But I decided to add cherry tomatoes and cucumbers to the colors. It's more colorful and more like a salad, and it's also appetizing.
Of the two types of dressing, I chose non-oil. Complete if you put it evenly on the cutlet and cabbage. As soon as you look at the taste, the sour dressing blends into the crispy clothes, making it slightly soft and the taste of the fillet is enhanced.
Delicious cutlet goes well with not only strong sauces and soy sauce, but also light dressings. The shredded cabbage also has a fluffy texture and a moderately sour taste that makes it easy to eat. You can enjoy it more by eating the cutlet and cabbage together.
The goodness of tonkatsu salad is that you can enjoy it without rice. A salad alone will be a satisfying lunch or dinner. Please do try that out.
