Sabourin" is a French baked pastry made of brioche soaked in syrup and flavored with rum. When you eat it with coffee or tea, you feel like a grown-up, don't you?
We have found a recipe that makes it easy to make such an adult cake, "Sabourin," at home using store-bought bread!
Sabalan Easy recipe
Ingredients
Here is what you need to prepare. (This recipe is based on a recipe from House Foods.4 commercial brioche or round breads
300 ml water
2 tablespoons sugar
50 ml rum
Whipping cream (or make your own with whipped cream and sugar), to taste
Since I could not find brioche at the bakery (not surprisingly, right?), I used regular round bread (meal bread) this time.
Directions for preparation
Put water and sugar in a saucepan and heat. When it comes to a boil, turn off the heat and add rum (*1).Slice the bread and separate the top and bottom. Dip each in the syrup of *1, squeeze lightly, and remove.
Squeeze a dollop of whipped cream over the bottom slice of bread, top with the top slice, and you're done!
How does it taste?
The dough is moist and juicy with plenty of syrup. When you bite into a piece, the mellow aroma of rum will overflow into your mouth. It is the most delicious...!The milky sweetness of the whipped cream mellows out the slightly bitter adult flavor with a hint of alcohol. If it tastes this good with store-bought bread, it is worth making. How about this easy snack for a luxurious, tipsy mood, or for dessert after dinner?
