"Chatei Hatou" is about a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Shibuya Station. It is a coffee shop where you can enjoy coffee carefully brewed with paper drip and homemade sweets.
The interior of the store is decorated with antique interiors, and the lighting is a little dark, creating a calm atmosphere. Colorful tableware is lined up on the other side of the counter. It's a restaurant where you can smoke all over, so it's a nice space for people who want to enjoy coffee and cigarettes as a set!
The author ordered three items (all including tax): "Chatei original blend coffee (850 yen)", homemade "chiffon cake (500 yen)", and "pumpkin pudding (500 yen)". Chiffon cakes included maple, green tea, banana, brown sugar, cinnamon, black tea and orange. This time I chose tea.
The original blend poured into a cute cup has a good flavor and is easy to drink with a good balance of bitterness and acidity. When swallowed, a bittersweet and plump scent spreads softly in the back of the throat.
Pumpkin pudding has a solid and dense finish. You can enjoy the original taste and sweetness of pumpkin. After swallowing, the richness that remains on the tongue is irresistible! It's more like a cake with a satisfying taste than a soft pudding. The overall sweetness is modest, and the bittersweet taste of caramel is a nice accent.
The chiffon cake is so fluffy and moist that you can hear the sound "Kush ..." when you insert the fork! The moment you put it in your mouth, you will be addicted to the airy texture that crushes softly. The lips are light, but one piece is quite volumey and excellent for eating. It goes perfectly with coffee.
Shibuya "Chatei Hatou" is recommended when you want to spend a little luxurious time in the retro atmosphere of the store. If you have trouble finding a cafe, why not take a look?
