Mugen Cheese Hanpen
Recipe
Ingredients
The recipe is based on Ajinomoto's recipe.1 sheet hanpen
1 tablespoon cheese powder
1/4 teaspoon chicken soup stock
2 teaspoons olive oil
Directions
Cut Hanpen into 1.5 cm cubes.Heat olive oil in a frying pan and cook hanpen until browned.
When browned, transfer to a bowl, add cheese powder and chicken soup stock and mix well.
Serve on a plate and sprinkle with black pepper and basil to taste.
How does it taste?
Yummmm! The chewy hanpen absorbs the olive oil and is enhanced by the umami of the cheese powder and just the right amount of saltiness. The baking process gives the hanpen a browned aroma, and the cheese adds a rich, mild flavor that makes it hard to stop eating! The texture of the dish is very chewy, so it is quite filling, and while I can't say that I could eat it endlessly, I did think that I could probably drink as many beers as I wanted with it.
