Menchi-katsu with plenty of gravy
Menchi-katsu that traps gravy well is delicious

Tonkatsu Taihou, a famous Tonkatsu restaurant in Meguro, Tokyo. Menchi-katsu with plenty of gravy is easy to eat. Perfect for people who want to enjoy crispy fried food, but who are loin and really heavy.

Shops in the shopping district on the slope

Appearance of Tonkatsu Taihou
An ordinary pork cutlet shop. However, it is quite crowded.

Taihou leaves the west exit of Meguro Station and is on the way down Gonnosukezaka on Meguro Dori to the Meguro River. Is it about 5 minutes on foot from the station? It is also called the Tonkatsu Gosanke in Meguro along with the nearby "Tonkatsu Tonkatsu" and "Tonkatsu Katsuichi".

It looks like an ordinary pork cutlet shop in the shopping district. However, the long and narrow counters and table seats are packed tightly, and there are people waiting to enter the store outside. There are quite a lot of women.

While shopping at a nearby drug store, sit down when the seats are vacant. Loin and fillet are good, but I tried the Menchi-katsu (1,050 yen, tax included) that I was a little worried about.

Menchi-katsu with gravy trapped

Treasure Menchi-katsu
If the gravy is left as it is, it will not spill

Tea, pickles, and salad will be served first, so if you wait while pinching, you can see the shop staff working at the kitchen up close.

As the loin and fillets were fried one after another, the ordered menchi-katsu also came up from the oil. After cutting it into pieces that are easy to eat, the shop staff presses something that looks like a hot kitchen knife against the cut surface of the knives.

While observing that it was interesting, the Menchi-katsu of Kudan arrived with rice and miso soup. Looking at the cut surface that interests me, there is nothing special about it. However, when I bite into it, the gravy overflows. I don't know what it is, but it seems that the meat juice is not spilled and is trapped even after cutting this minced meat.

Flavor that feels like "Western food"

Treasure Menchi and Set Meal
Very Japanese food, but Western food

When you wrap it in a refreshing garment and enjoy the scent of well-cooked onions and minced meat, it feels like "Western food". Come to think of it, Menchi-katsu is a cutlet, a dish of European origin. It makes me feel strange to eat with rice, miso soup, and soup.

Menchi-katsu is delicious enough with just the flavor of the meat, and the impression is that you don't have to sprinkle the sauce on it, but if you squeeze the lemon that comes with it, it will be more refreshing. Forgetting to make a side dish of rice, it's almost like a minced meat and just flattened.

It comes with two, but the size is not so big, so it seems to be good for people who think that loin and fins may be a little tight on the stomach.

I should have sat at the counter of the pork cutlet shop in the shopping district, but I felt a little fashionable and finished lunch.
