Rikkyo University cafeteria "Daiichi Shokudo
We arrived at Rikkyo University's Ikebukuro campus, a 10-minute walk from the west exit of JR Ikebukuro Station. This was my first visit to Rikkyo University's campus, and I was surprised at how stylish it was! The ivy-covered brick buildings, the courtyard that looks like something out of a picture book, and even the chapel, which is a Christian university. It looks like a combination of the worlds of Harry Potter, Ghibli, and Disney Resort. I envy that I could spend my college days here.
The first dining hall you are looking for is a historic brick building completed in 1919. The words "Appetite must follow reason" written in Latin above the door are said to be a reference to the scholar Cicero's words, "Desire must follow reason.
The interior of the cafeteria is reminiscent of the Hogwarts dining hall in the "Harry Potter" movie series.
Tickets are purchased from the meal ticket machine located near the entrance. In addition to standard menu items such as Katsu-don (pork cutlet bowl) and curry and rice, "Chef's Recommendation" and "Today's Special" are also offered.
I purchased a "katsudon" (pork cutlet served on top of a bowl of rice), which is said to have been eaten by Shigeo Nagashima (370 yen including tax). It comes with miso soup, and for less than a coin, it's cheap!
The rice is packed tightly with a thick egg and plenty of pork cutlet. The batter is moist and loosely loosened. The seasoning is thick and appetizing. It reminds me of the pork cutlet served at a rest house in a ski resort.
The first cafeteria of Rikkyo University, which gives the most stylish impression so far. We will soon introduce a bakery on the same Ikebukuro campus.
