Imuraya Yawamochi Ice Cream Cream Cheese Cups

Imuraya's "Yawamochi Ice Cream" is a Japanese-style ice cream that combines Japanese ingredients such as adzuki beans and rice cake. Did you know that Yawamochi has a " cream cheese cup" in collaboration with "kiri"?

It was introduced last fall/winter (2016). The cream cheese ice cream is combined with sweet bean paste and cream cheese sauce, and topped with five soft rice cakes, all made with 14% kiri cream cheese.

The cream cheese ice cream is like fromage cream with a light and light texture. It has the richness of cheese and a sour taste that goes away quickly. The cream cheese sauce is added to the cream cheese ice cream to make the ice cream clingy. It has a thick, honey-like texture on the tongue, and is layered with a milkiness like condensed milk.

Cream cheese flavor, packed with flavor!

When you scoop it up from top to bottom, the taste of the two cream cheeses spreads out first, and what remains on the palate is the slightly elegant sweetness of the azuki bean paste and mochi.

I was surprised to find that cream cheese, adzuki beans and mochi do not fight each other, but the cream cheese flavor was slightly dominant. Personally, I would have liked it with vanilla ice cream, since the cream cheese ice cream is much more refreshing.

Anyway, I think kiri fans will be satisfied with this ice cream that blends Japanese and Western flavors. In the Kanto area, it is available at OK Stores (at the time of writing). If you see it, be sure to give it a try!
